Danny Elfman rose to fame as the singer and songwriter for the ‘80s band Oingo Boingo. In 1985, he was invited to write the score for Pee-wee’s Big Adventure. He was hesitant at first since he had no prior experience. When he finally found the courage to take the job up, it became a life-changing moment. Elfman has never looked back since. He's spread his wings as far as he can and is credited for creating more than a hundred film scores. His portfolio is vast and extends as far as Planet of the Apes. Being a master of his craft, just like Kanye West, who started out as a producer, has earned him a ton of nominations and awards, including a Grammy and two Emmys.

10 Collecting Hands, Quite Literally
As a child, Elfman was scared of some things, he says. One of those things is hands. When he turned six, he began to take interest in them. Growing into adulthood, the fear was swept away and replaced by an obsession. Thus was born Danny Elfman the ‘hand collector’. In his studio, he has all kinds of hands; skeletons, sculpted hands, silicone hands, you name it.

9 Having Father's Day Pancakes
People have different reasons for having children. For some, it’s to keep the lineage growing. For others, it’s to deal with loneliness or simply be responsible for someone else. Danny Elfman, however, has a very valid reason for becoming a dad; pancakes. The reason he had kids was so he could have pancakes on Father’s Day. “ What does Father’s day mean to me? 7 Releasing New Merch
Every artist knows the way to the fans’ hearts; some good old merch. In light of the release of his latest album, Big Mess, Elfman also released a series of themed apparel. The collection includes hoodies, t-shirts, face masks, and a limited-edition silver necklace named after the album. His merchandise comes in black and white, and is available for sale.
6 Popping Bubble Wraps With Yuki Elfman
No, Yuki Elfman is not the name of Danny Elfman’s son or daughter, it’s his pet dog. We all love our pets, don’t we? Just like Danny Elfman loves Yuki. When he’s not releasing music, Elfman is letting Yuki pop bubble wraps. It’s obviously a satisfying exercise, even for us. And when Yuki is not going ‘pop pop’, he’s taking a rest, and Elfman is always there to take a picture.
5 Chicken Farming, Anyone?
When Elfman isn’t making music videos like a true gamer, he spends his time rearing chickens. He’s given them names too. On Mother’s day, 'Bobo' was selected to be a surrogate mother to two new chicks since she was more maternal than the rest. Elfman had a three-post Instagram special, letting his followers in on Bobo’s new mothering journey.

Elfman’s passion for art goes beyond hands and triptychs. On a good day, you’ll find him making his body a work of art too. He has a lot of tattoos, each that means something to him. His tattoo artist is Zoey Taylor calls him a friend and one of the funniest and kindest people she knows. Elfman calls Zoey’s needlework wonderful and has a 35-year tattooing project.
3 'The Danny & Buddy Show'
We have to give it up to Danny Elfman for having a good sense of humor. He found a way to entertain us by bringing Buddy on board. Buddy, a puppet who we’d say has no filter, had a witty persona that allows him to tell Elfman to mind his own business when he's singled out for ‘partying too hard last night.’ The show is a comments-section favorite but has since taken a break.

One thing we can’t say about Elfman is that he does not try to get busy in the kitchen. Sometimes a man needs to chop his own onions, even when the end result is bloody. Elfman shared a picture of an extremely large onion he was chopping but didn’t get around to finish because he cut his middle finger. “It got the best of me this time…but I’m patient…I will have my day.” The caption read.

The last thing he likes to do, which perhaps is where his creativity comes from, is taking a walk in his garden. Elfman’s garden, however, has a vortex that tends to take someone all the way to a century they are not familiar with. The garden is an equal delight to his fans, who send compliments his way. “ I would expect no less,” Akin Yilmaz told Elfman on Instagram.
