Once named 'the biggest girl group of all time', the members of Fifth Harmony became the generation's favorite group in the 2010s.

The American girl group began its popularity in 2012 by participating in the American singing contest The X Factor when Lauren Jauregui, Normani Kordei, Ally Brooke, Dinah Jane, and Camila Cabello auditioned individually but then were put into a group after none succeeded as solo contestants.

After several names like 'LYLAS' and '1432', they finally decided to stick with Fifth Harmony. Even though they gained a lot of attention and popularity, they ended in third place. But the girls managed to make themselves a spot in the music industry thanks to their fans, who according to FoxWeekly were labeled the group the #1 most 'influential' X Factor USA contestant of all time.

Yet things turned sour when Camila departed the group to pursue solo success.

In 2015, the singer collaborated as a solo artist with her then-best friend and now ex-boyfriend Shawn Mendes with their duet song 'I Know What You Did Last Summer.' That was when the speculation over the singer planning to leave the group began.

After four and a half years of a successful career, the singer decided to depart from the group and became a solo artist in 2016. The singer did not speak about the reason for her departure for years.

Surprisingly, it was not what Harmonizers thought it would be, which was the rumors of a feud between the members. The Cuban singer never had the intention of leaving the group but was obligated to in order to release her songs.

"I just wanted to do that and it did not work ... It became clear that it was not possible to do solo stuff and be in the group at the same time," she told The New York Times.

From the very start, all bets and eyes were on Camila who was the fandom's favorite. Her talented voice has given her a successful solo career with multiple songs reaching the top of the charts which boosted her net worth from $2 million to $6 million.

The drama between both parties began after Fifth Harmony released a statement announcing Camila's departure. The 'Havana' singer did not seem to like the group's Instagram post as they had said "Camila has decided to leave Fifth Harmony", but also that they had released the news in the first place without allowing her to express herself to their fans before.

Fifth-now-Fourth Harmony had different interviews with magazines where they had expressed their thoughts about the group being one down, as well as Camila sharing her journey as a solo artist. Then, Dinah, Lauren, Ally, and Normani had unfollowed Camila from Instagram, and vice versa.

Months later, the group made their first appearance as four members at the 2017 MTV VMA's when the group performed 'Down' and 'Angel.' Then, what was thought to be the shadiest move of all time happened.

After five people were seen, one of them purposely fell off of the stage. Many were quick to guess that it was Camila who went out of the frame as she had recently left the now-quarter group.

Miss Movin' On?

A year after the whole drama and the group splitting up in May 2018, the singers had parted ways to pursue their solo projects.

None of the singers had spoken badly about their members, including Camila, which meant that the group had moved on past all the controversies and the bad blood between the once known Fifth Harmony.

As the singers were bumping into each other in award shows, an interaction was inevitable. Nonetheless, the girls have kept their cool and proved that just as the lyrics of their debut song 'Miss Movin' On' say: "Everything is changing and I never want to go back to the way it was. I'm finding out who I am and who I am from here on out is gonna be enough."

Normani and Camila, who reportedly had a bad relationship during their time in Fifth Harmony, have been the most successful members, had a mini-reunion at the Billboard Music Awards.

The 'Don't Go Yet' singer shared their interaction to Marie Claire: "I just want you to know, I really hope we can all move on from everything, and I’m genuinely happy for the other girls, and I hope you tell them I wish you the best," she told to Normani.

Is The Fifth Harmony-Camila Cabello Drama Over?

Later in 2019, several old tweets and Tumblr posts of racist and offensive language were believed to be written by Camila in 2012 and 2013. She then confirmed and took the responsibility for her actions and publicly apologized.

However, later on in 2020, Normani, with who she had recently become friends again did not take it so well and got real with Rolling Stone about the situation and where she was standing: "It would be dishonest if I said that this particular scenario didn't hurt me."

There is no news about her current relationship with Lauren Jauregui, Dinah Jane, and Ally Brooke, nor the singers have talked about it.

They have indirectly spoken about issues affecting their fellow members and have defended each other. It seems that as they have grown older, they have all moved on and are now enjoying their solo careers.

Who knows, maybe as the group has been on an indefinite hiatus since 2018, there could still be a Fifth Harmony comeback with the five of them.
