While One Tree Hill has some moments that are hard to believe, like this crazy scene of a dog eating a heart, it's also a show about friendship. It's definitely tough to ignore the more intense parts of this teen drama... but let's focus on the strong bonds that the characters share. Peyton Sawyer and Brooke Davis have been BFFs for a long time, although Peyton is a brooding artistic type and Brooke is more interested in being popular. When they become close with Haley James, the three characters help each other through the worst parts of growing up.
Although Hilarie Burton quit One Tree Hill, she seems to have stayed friends with some of her co-stars. This show obviously meant a lot to this cast as they all talk about it on a regular basis. We're all curious to know if the cast actually got along while filming the show and if they're still close today. Let's take a look at the relationships that the One Tree Hill cast has with each other.
Here's How The Cast Of One Tree Hill Actually Feel About Each Other
The One Tree Hill cast has made interesting comments about the teen drama, and we're always eager to hear from the actors, as they did such a great job portraying these characters.
The main characters all super close on One Tree Hill. They help each other grow up and are always compassionate when something goes wrong, and fans really enjoy watching them.
It turns out that the actresses are close in real life, which is really sweet.
Sophia Bush told Us Weekly that she's really grateful for her relationships with Joy Lenz and Hilarie Burton.
Sophia said that Hilarie Burton enjoys Halloween and always throws an epic gathering: "Hilarie throws the best Halloween party ever. Like, that will just stand in the record books. She loves Halloween more than anyone I know. And those were always kind of our best times."
Sophia also explained, “We’ve known each other for almost two decades now. Our friendships have changed immeasurably. We’ve been through so many stages of life together. But I think something that we really cherish — Hilarie and I were talking about this not too long ago — is just having, interestingly enough, as we’ve all gotten older, having our friendships deepen even more."
Hilarie appeared on the Chicks in the Office podcast and said that people didn't seem to want her and Sophia Bush to get along. They would force some competition between them. Hilarie knows that was unfair and shared, "We're the love story.' So yeah, the female friendships were important on that show."
Jana Kramer, who played actress Alex Dupré, said that she didn't really hang out with James Lafferty, who played Nathan Scott, during the show.
Jana explained that the cast is good friends today but that wasn't the case with everyone back then. Jana said, "When I was on the show... there was just some, not cattiness, but just, 'You can't talk to this person if you're friends with this person. So I wasn't very close to James because of certain situations on the set at the time."

The Truth About The 'Drama Queens' Podcast
In February 2020, Hilarie Burton and several One Tree Hill cast members got together, which was really fun for fans to see. She shared that playing Peyton allowed her to meet so many people who have meant so much to her and also wrote, "‘But this bunch of crazies are the original cast from the very first pilot episode. Most of us got a script called 'Ravens'. We were little kids with a whole lotta hope. Nathan. Tim. Lucas. Peyton. Skills. Mouth. Jimmy. The OGs of Tree Hill High.’"
Hilarie Burton, Sophia Bush, and Joy Lenz have also started a podcast called Drama Queens. Since June 2021, they've been watching episodes of the show and talking about them. Hilarie even said that she hadn't watched any episodes from seasons 7, 8, and 9, according to Us Weekly. Listening to the podcast, it's clear that the three are super good friends, as they have such a great dynamic.

The Scandal On The Set Of One Tree Hill
The cast also came together in 2017 when Audrey Wauchope, a writer on One Tree Hill, put forth a sexual misconduct allegation against creator Mark Schwahn. It was awful for fans to learn about what had happened.
Sophia Bush went on Andy Cohen Live and explained that Mark grabbed her when she was 21. Sophia said, "the first itme Mark Schwhan grabbed my a** I hit him in front of six other producers, and I hit him f—cking hard." Sophia continued that Mark's behavior was an open secret on set: "It was very clear to him to stay away from me. You heard comments you knew about things he said to people, we knew about the late night texts. We knew when he was super obsessed with one girl on our show that he would try to bang down her hotel room door in the middle of the night."
Hilarie Burton and Sophia Bush, along with other women who worked on One Tree Hill, wrote a letter and explained the awful behavior that they experienced and saw on set.
