Venom: Let There Be Carnage is the sequel fans are waiting for, currently scheduled for release in September 2021. Woody Harrelson will take up the role of Carnage, or Cletus Kasady, the demented serial killer who bonds with a symbiote to become a supervillain.

Before the movie, a collaboration between Sony and Marvel, comes out, it's worthwhile to take a look at just how powerful a supervillain Carnage is. In the Marvel Comics, he’s taken down many superheroes.
10 The Mercury Team
At one point, the US army forms a team of specialists called the Mercury Team. Four soldiers from different branches of the military get together. They each have a symbiote they use in black ops missions against other symbiotes, including Carnage when he's on a rampage in Colorado. The symbiotes (Lasher, Phage, Riot, and Agony) were separated from their human hosts and kept on ice when not being deployed. Unfortunately, that’s how Carnage happened to stumble upon their secret base. It’s a gruesome end for the human hosts.
9 Spider-Man
Spider-Man has confronted Carnage many times, and lost more often than not. He’s not only super powered, he’s uber-crazy, and that’s his real advantage. Spider-Man never knows where he’s coming from. Even when the Webslinger manages to get the best of Carnage, in the comics, it’s usually with the help of supserhero friends like The Fantastic Four – or even his on again/off again pal, Venom. Not even Spidey’s friends were safe; Carnage possessed Mary Jane, and killed Gwen Stacy in the Ultimate Spider-Man series.
8 Spider-Doppelganger
Doppelganger was an evil version of Spider-Man, created along with other superhero doubles during the Infinity War by Magus (an evil future version of Adam Warlock). The Infinity War in Marvel Comics is a complicated storyline, and by the end of it, only Spider-Doppelganger remains. He joins up with Carnage for the Maximum Carnage event, and becomes close to Shriek in a mother-son kind of way. When Carnage turns on Shriek, Doppelganger tries to step in, and that’s when Carnage kills him and throws him from the roof of a highrise.
7 Venom
Venom, like many of the symbiotes, can be either supervillain or antihero. When he comes up against Carnage, though, it’s another story. The Carnage symbiote is actually the 999th offspring of Venom in the comics, and ends up much stronger and faster than his parent. Whenever Venom and Carnage butt heads – which is often, as they become instant antagonists – a titanic battle ensues, but Venom usually needs Spider-Man’s help to take him down. Maximum Carnage knocks Venom out cold, but leaves him living so that he can torture him.
6 Deadpool
Deadpool finds out that Carnage is in the area after escaping prison, and decides that he's the only one crazy enough to take him down. That's the premise of the Deadpool vs. Carnage series of 2014.

At one point, Shriek has to step in to save her BAE, but from that point on, Carnage takes control and ends up mutilating Deadpool, and leaving him on the floor. In the end, Deadpool needs a couple of symbiotes of his own to finally bring Carnage down.
5 Toxin
Toxin is the offspring of Carnage himself, but Carnage is furious at the idea of another symbiote more powerful than him. The Carnage, Vol 2 series (2016-2017) pits Eddie Brock's Toxin, now a government agent, against Carnage. The story culminates in the temple of an elder god called Chthon that Carnage is resurrecting. In the end, it's not a battle that defeats Toxin, it's Eddie's own philosophical and moral doubts. He sacrifices the Toxin symbiote to save someone else, even as the evil tentacled god rises from the temple.
4 Man-Wolf
John Jonah Jameson III is the son of J. Jonah Jameson. On one of his trips to the moon, he comes across a red stone that turns him into Man-Wolf, with superhuman strength, agility and other powers. In the Absolute Carnage series, Jameson, working for the government, is sent to investigate strange happenings in Colorado. There, he finds Carnage’s symbiote cult. He turns into Man-Wolf, but Carnage and the cultists infect him with a symbiote. He then becomes a sleeper agent for Carnage for a while.
3 Silver Surfer
Carnage gets his revenge on Silver Surfer in a 1998 Amazing Spider-Man comic. Cletus Kasady has escaped from an institute (again) and Spider-Man teams up with Silver Surfer to stop his rampage. The Carnage symbiote takes offence at Silver Surfer's involvement, and, splitting from Kasady, bonds with Surfer to become Carnage Cosmic with disastrous results.

In the end, Silver Surfer manages to fight off the evil influence long enough to return the symbiote to Kasady – but the question is, how did Carnage get through in the first place?
2 The Avengers
During the Colorado storyline (Carnage USA), Carnage is able to create small symbiote clones at will, terrorizing a whole town. Naturally, the federal government sends in The Avengers – Captain America (Steve Rogers), Wolverine, Hawkeye and Thing. Spider-Man is on the scene too, and tries to warn the others about Carnage, but they rush in to attack. Carnage easily overwhelms the superheroes, and the symbiote bonds with each of them, leaving Spidey with a nightmare situation. In the end, it's Spider-Man solo who has to take them all down.
1 Alejandra Jones
Alejandra Jones has a lot of adventures as Ghost Rider, but by the time Absolute Carnage comes around, she's using the last of the Spirit of Vengeance power to protect her village in Nicaragua as the Guardian Fantasma. Carnage comes for her, looking for traces of the Venom symbiote in her called a codex. She battles him, but in the end, he rips out her spine and eats it, temporarily getting the Spirit of Vengeance powers. In the end, she returns from Hell to possess a villager long enough to help drive Carnage away again.
